About PEAK
Empowering refugees in Kent to access higher education and build brighter futures through personalized guidance and support.
Our Mission & Vision
PEAK was founded with a clear purpose: to break down barriers to higher education for refugees in Kent. We believe that education is a powerful tool for integration, empowerment, and rebuilding lives.
Our Mission
To provide personalized guidance, resources, and support to refugees in Kent who aspire to access higher education, helping them navigate the complex educational landscape and overcome barriers to academic success.
We aim to create clear pathways to universities, connect refugees with appropriate resources, and advocate for inclusive educational policies that recognize the unique challenges faced by displaced individuals.
Our Vision
A Kent where every refugee with the desire to pursue higher education has the information, support, and opportunities needed to achieve their academic goals and fulfill their potential.
We envision a future where educational institutions fully embrace the talents, perspectives, and contributions of refugee students, creating diverse and inclusive learning environments that benefit all.
Meet the Founder
Osama Sharkia
Founder & Director
As the founder of PEAK, I am deeply committed to creating educational opportunities for refugees in Kent. With firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by those seeking to rebuild their lives through education, I established PEAK to provide the guidance I wish had been available to me.
My background in education and personal experience navigating the UK higher education system as a refugee has shaped PEAK's approach to providing practical, empathetic support. I believe that education is not just about academic achievement, but about restoring dignity, purpose, and hope.
Through PEAK, I aim to create a supportive community that empowers refugees to overcome barriers and access the transformative power of higher education.
